Due to staff shortages we will be unable to attend any small animal emergencies after hours Friday, Saturday and Sunday (June 2-4). We apologize for the inconvenience and are working hard to rectify this situation as soon as possible. We are still able to assist with large animal services at this time. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

In-House Bloodwork

A diagnostic tool used to understand your pet’s overall well-being.

We are proud to offer diagnostic services such as bloodwork, urinalysis and fecal examination in our in-house laboratory. Bloodwork is part of your pet's routine care when we are trying to understand their overall well-being. To schedule bloodwork for your pet, call 780-967-2967.

What can bloodwork detect in pets?

We use bloodwork to detect the following:

  1. Liver disease
  2. Diabetes
  3. Infections
  4. Anemia
  5. Kidney problems

When might bloodwork be recommended for my pet?

Bloodwork is often used to diagnose illnesses in pets. When your loyal companion is showing signs of illnesses such as vomiting, loss of appetite, lethargy, increased urination, etc., a blood panel is always recommended. There are other instances where our team may recommend blood tests for your pet:

  • Your pet has surgery scheduled. Pre-anesthetic blood testing is necessary to detect underlying health problems that can cause anesthesia complications.
  • If your pet is starting a new medication or treatment.
